Lake Manyara National Park is a biodiversity hotspot nestled at the base of the Great Rift Valley. Covering 330 square kilometers, it is known for its stunning landscapes, diverse wildlife, and the picturesque Lake Manyara, which covers two-thirds of the park. This compact but wildlife-rich park offers an incredible safari experience with lush forests, open savannas, and alkaline lakes teeming with birdlife.
Lake Manyara is famous for its tree-climbing lions, an unusual behavior that makes it one of the few places in Africa where you can witness this spectacle. The park is also home to large elephant herds, buffalo, giraffes, hippos, and troops of baboons, which are among the largest in Africa. Bird lovers will be amazed by the over 400 bird species, including thousands of pink flamingos, pelicans, and storks that flock to the soda lake.
The Serengeti is a year-round safari destination, but the best time to visit depends on what you want to experience. From December to March, the southern plains host the calving season, attracting predators and offering dramatic wildlife action. July to October is the peak season, when thousands of wildebeest cross the Mara River, creating one of nature’s most spectacular events. Even during the rainy months, the park remains rich with wildlife, providing excellent game viewing with fewer crowds.
Lake Manyara is a year-round safari destination, but the dry season from June to October offers the best wildlife viewing as animals gather around water sources. The wet season from November to May transforms the park into a lush paradise, attracting thousands of migratory birds.
