Near-endemic Zosterops eurycricotus

Kilimanjaro White-eye

A small green-and-yellow white-eye with a broad white eye-ring, found in the highland forests of northern Tanzania.

The Kilimanjaro White-eye, also called the Broad-ringed White-eye, is named for its home mountains. It lives in montane forest and forest edge on Kilimanjaro and Mount Meru.

It is one of the easier highland specials to see, often feeding low down along tracks and clearings.

Guide’s tip

Look for small, noisy groups moving through mixed flocks along forest edges.

Sightings are never guaranteed: these are wild animals in wild places. What we can promise is a guide who knows where to look.
