The greater kudu is one of the most handsome antelopes in Africa, with white stripes down the flanks and horns that spiral two and a half turns. It prefers hilly, wooded country and is hard to see in the north.
Ruaha is different. Kudu are common there, along with lesser kudu, roan and sable, which is why birders and wildlife travellers alike put the south on their list.
