Plan my safari

About three hours after dinner Easy

Night game drives

Spotlights, genets and bushbabies. See the park after dark, when a different cast of animals comes out.

Most national parks close at sunset, but Lake Manyara runs licensed night drives, and some concessions around Tarangire do too. With a spotlight and a ranger, you look for the animals that sleep through the day: genets, civets, bushbabies, porcupines and, with luck, a leopard on the move.

Night drives are an easy add-on to a lodge stay and a favourite with photographers. We book them as part of your itinerary where they are available.
