Birdwatching

More than 1,100 species, dozens of endemics, and guides who find most birds by ear. Our speciality.

Birding is what Charles Tours was built on. Our bird guides have spent years learning the calls of northern Tanzania and the Eastern Arc forests, and they know where the endemics live, from Beesley’s Lark on the Lark Plains to the Long-billed Tailorbird in the Usambaras.

A birding day has a different rhythm from a game drive: more stops, more walking, more time at a single fruiting tree. We adapt the pace to you, whether you want a big list or a few perfect photographs.

Every destination we visit is good for birds, but the forests of Arusha National Park, the lakes of the Rift Valley and the Eastern Arc mountains are where the specialities are.
